Hostia: July 2025 —For Our Country

The first people who should benefit from your charity are those living with you in the family home. Charity, along with the worship of God at church, are what characterise a Catholic family. To pray as a family is important in order that all in the family keep looking in the same direction towards Heaven. This is how we can improve life in our countries — a little at a time, but truly, at our level. We must not simply pray for better days at sometime in the future or deplore the fact that many people live without God in selfish ways. We must be part of God's work here and now for the good of the country where we live. But for this to be done, we must learn early in our lives the fundamental behaviour of how to live with others — starting in the family which is why modern society is wrong not to promote the importance and values of family life.
