Consoling Sisters of the Sacred Heart - The Greatest Day

Source: District of Great Britain

On the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, at the Society of St. Pius X's priory in Albano near Rome, eleven postulants took the religious habit of the Consoling Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, while two novices made their first profession. Rev. Fr. Davide Pagliarani, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X, officiated at the ceremonies and offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

The ceremonies of the taking of the habit and first professions were officiated by Don Davide Pagliarani, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X.

St. Thomas Aquinas, in his Summa Theologica, says that amazement is man's reaction to an event whose cause is unknown. To those unfamiliar with the workings of grace and religion, what happened on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the priory of Albano was certainly amazing.

Eleven girls dressed as brides approached the altar, but there was no bridegroom in sight!

To those who have the faith, however, the bridegroom was there, waiting for them: it was the Lamb of God of Whom the Apocalypse speaks.

The ceremony was simple but moving: the bestowal of a blessed habit, veil, rosary and lighted candle upon each bride, their retirement from the chapel, and then their return as brides of Christ. With black habit and white novice veil, they have made their oblation and now follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

The change of clothing is an exterior sign of an interior gift of self to God. It is a death to the world and a vivification to Christ.

No less moving was the profession of two sisters who had reached the end of their noviciate. These made vows of poverty chastity and obedience, received the black veil in place of the white, a crown of thorns and a large wooden cross to carry, to signify that they were now crucified with Christ.

Priests, in their ministry, continually receive requests for prayers from the faithful, but who prays for them? The Consoling Sisters of the Sacred Heart are a religious congregation dedicated in a special way to praying for priests, and from this day, eleven more now pray before His throne.

May the Lord of the harvest send more labourers into his harvest. Deo gratias.
