Fr. Ockerse has produced an itinerary poster from which it can be seen that the main thrust of the pilgrimage, as is the case every year, is for many Priestly and Religious Vocations and for the Solemn Consecration of our faithful, our families and our country to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Note the 12.00 noon start from the Slipper Chapel.
Last year, the annual pilgrimage of 2017, which was the centenary year of the Fatima apparitions, was supported by 154 pilgrims, many of them being Knights of the Militia Immaculatae, and it must surely have gladdened the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady.
Although the Fatima centenary year has passed, the need to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary remains as great as ever, and it would be a wonderful witness to this fact if last year's attendance of 154 souls could be bettered. All Knights of the Militia Immaculatae are encouraged to make the pilgrimage, and to bring with them those family members, relatives and friends to whom they have distributed Miraculous Medals since last year's pilgimage. Let us give Our Lady a chance to demonstrate the extent to which she has channelled her graces into the souls of the recipients of those medals. Giving away the Medals was the difficult part, and Our Lady will make asking those who received them much easier now that that first step has been taken.
NB: For those faithful from St. Anne's in Leicester who are unable to undertake the pilgrimage or who do not intend to stay overnight, please be reminded that from Sunday 2nd September onwards, Mass will be offered in their parish at 11:30 am.
