Sermon preached by Rev. Robert Brucciani for the Second Sunday after the Epiphany.

Alma Redemptoris Mater

Alma Redemptóris Mater, quæ pérvia cæli
Porta manes, et stella maris, succúrre cadénti,
Súrgere qui curat pópulo: tu quæ genuísti,
Natúra miránte, tuum sanctum Genitórem
Virgo prius ac postérius, Gabriélis ab ore
Sumens illud Ave, peccatórum miserére.

Loving Mother of the Redeemer, door through to heaven
And star of the sea, come to the aid of thy people, fallen indeed but striving to rise;
Thou who gavest birth, while nature marvelled, to thine own Holy Creator,
Remaining Virgin first and last, and who heard from the mouth of Gabriel that greeting: ‘Hail’,
O take pity on us sinners.
