Pilgrimage Schedule

Saturday 7th June (25 miles)

  • 0745: Opening Mass in the gardens of the Bishop’s Palace, just behind Chartres Cathedral.*

  • 0900: Departure

  • 1930–2030: Arrival in camp

*Please note: drop off your luggage before Mass at the trucks on rue Charles Brune.

Sunday 8th June (25 miles)

  • 0600: Departure

  • 1800: Pontifical Mass in camp

Monday 9th June (17 miles)

  • 0600: Departure

  • 1630: Arrival in Paris. Closing Mass in the parvis of 
    Notre-Dame Cathedral.

  • 1830: End

British Chapter

  • Fr. Michael O'Reilly will be Chaplain for the British and Irish chapter. He will hear Confessions, give spiritual advice and meditations, and lead prayers.

  • There will be daily Mass as well as plenty of opportunities for Confession and spiritual guidance from the Chaplain.

  • There will also be the chance to socialise with English-speaking Traditional Catholics from Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, America, Ireland, South Africa and elsewhere.

Luggage and Gear

  • You must add a WHITE ribbon to your large luggage as an identification marker. It is recommended that items within your large luggage are wrapped in plastic bags to keep them dry!

  • At the beginning of the Pilgrimage, drop off your large luggage at the lorries (located on rue Charles Brune) before the opening Mass in Chartres.

  • Your large luggage will be transported by lorry to each campsite, where you can pick it up each evening.

 

Travel Advice

All pilgrims are responsible for their own travel arrangements.

  • The Eurostar runs between London Saint Pancras and Paris Gare du Nord.

  • Coaches are also available from London to Paris.

  • Flights are available from various locations to Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris-Orly (ORY) Beauvais (BVA).

  • SNCF trains run between Paris Montparnasse and Chartres

 

Accommodation

All pilgrims are responsible for their own accommodation for Friday 6th June in Chartres. Options include:

Food

The Pilgrimage organiser provides:

  • Baguettes and hot drinks in the morning

  • Sugar lumps and water along the way

  • Baguettes at lunch

  • Baguettes and soup in the evening

Pilgrims must provide their own lunches and energy snacks before starting the pilgrimage:

  • Lunch e.g. tinned fish/German sausages/beans/fruit.

  • Snacks e.g. chocolate, salted nuts (to replenish electrolytes you will be losing), raisins, sweets, fruit compotes.

Tommy's Kitchen (£40):

  • Tommy’s Kitchen is a catering service provided by the Irish Chapter and available to pilgrims in the British Chapter upon request for £40 per person (choose option 1).

  • The service will offer  evening meals on Saturday and Sunday and Breakfast on Sunday and Monday.

  •  Breakfast will be available on Sunday and Monday mornings which will include a choice of cereal, brioche, toast, yogurt, fruit and tea or coffee.

  • Dinner will be ready for you when you arrive at camp on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Dessert, beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks will also be served to help you celebrate your day’s achievement.

Health and Safety

  • Permanent medical assistance is provided by the pilgrimage organisers — doctors and medical staff — who have a first aid tent at each campsite. At each halt, shuttle buses provide transport for pilgrims who are not able to walk further or, in case of emergency, to take them to hospital.

  • It is strongly recommended to take out appropriate travel insurance to cover medical emergencies. The SSPX cannot accept any responsibility for these. 

  • UNDER 18S MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.

Option 1 (£100)

  • We will register you with the pilgrimage organisers and provide you with a booklet (£60)

  • Tommy's Kitchen (catering service (£40) 

Option 2 (£60)

  • We will register you with the pilgrimage organisers and provide you with a booklet (£60)

  • You must provide your own meals and snacks
